What are clip-on hair extensions?
Clip-on hair extensions attach to the hair using secure, detachable clips. The extensions create length and volume without damaging your natural hair.
Is it human hair?
Hair Extensions NYC uses only the finest quality 100% human European Remi hair. It will not tangle or matte.
Will they look natural?
Hair Extensions NYC's hair extensions are custom-made to perfectly match each client's own hair color, texture and style. They are individually hand-sewn to ensure that they look completely natural. It will look like your own hair, but thicker and longer.
Do you sell synthetic hair extensions?
No. Hair Extensions NYC uses only high quality 100% human hair.
How many pieces does a set come with?
Each set comes with six pieces which are designed to be strategically placed in different locations of the head. A standard set comes with one 5 inch piece, one 5 ½ inch piece, one 8 inch piece, one 9 inch piece, and two 3 inch pieces. The thickness of each piece is based on the thickness of your hair.
I have never been able to find clip-on extensions to match my unique combination of highlights and lowlights, how do I know Hair Extensions NYC's extensions will match?
At Hair Extensions NYC, we actually hand-sew each hair extensions set individually to perfectly match each client's base color, highlights and lowlights. For example, for a woman with brown hair, subtle chestnut highlights and chunky dark brown lowlights, we would actually hand-sew the chesnut highlights and dark brown lowlights into the brown hair extensions, so that the look exactly like her own hair. If a woman has brown hair only, then the hair extensions would be brown with no highlights or lowlights. You can search and search the internet -- you will find that no other company does this. You can also choose from straight, wavy, curly or kinky-curly styles, so that the hair extensions blend perfectly with the style and texture of your own hair.
How will I know how to put them in?
At the free consultation, if you decide to place an order, we will show you how to put them in. We will spend as much time as you need to make sure that you can put them in yourself in less than five minutes. When you come to pick them up, we will again make sure you are completely comfortable putting them in yourself. The hair extensions also come with a 45-minute detailed instructional DVD which shows how to put them in. If you ever have any questions after you purchase the extensions, clients are more than welcome to stop by if they need additional assistance. We have never had a problem with clients being able to attach the hair extensions themselves. Our clip on hair extensions are designed in a way that makes them easy to attach and easy to figure out where each piece goes. They are shaped in a way that matches the contours of your head so it is simple to attach them in the proper place in your hair.
Do you also sell Great Lengths, keratin fusion or weaves?
Absolutely not. We created the Hair Extensions NYC clip-on hair extensions line specifically to provide an alternative to the damaging effects of traditional hair extensions methods, particularly strand-by-strand methods that attach at the root. We have so many clients who have suffered terrible hair loss from those other forms of hair extensions that we would never use those methods on our clients. We stand by our product. We don't just sell our hair extensions line, but all of our stylists wear Hair Extensions NYC everyday.
Can they fall out?
No, they cannot fall out unless you open the clip. We will show you how to attach the clips properly to make sure that they are secure. You can dance with them, pull on them, even sleep with them – they will not fall out unless you open the clips and remove the extensions.
Are they comfortable?
Our clients always comment on how comfortable our hair extensions are and how they can barely feel them once they are attached. We hand-sew them in a way so that the wefts lay flat and are virtually lightweight. Yet while they are light-weight, the extensions are thick and voluminous to provide you with a full set of beautiful hair.
Will they damage my hair?
Clip-on hair extensions are the only hair extensions method that will not ruin your own hair. The clips are so light that it is as if you are simply wearing a bunch of barrettes. Unlike Great lengths, keratin, cold fusion and other hair extensions methods that are know to cause hair loss when removed, clip-on hair extensions are not permanently attached and therefore will not pull out existing strands of your natural hair when they are taken out.
Can I sleep with the hair extensions in my hair?
Yes, you can sleep with them. Most of our clients take them out each night but you can definitely sleep in them if you want to.
How do I wash them?
You can wash them in the sink using shampoo and conditioner.
Can I use curling irons and straightening irons?
Yes. Hair Extensions NYC's extensions are 100% human hair and can be styled using all types of hair irons.
How long are the hair extensions?
Our standard hair extensions are 19 inches long. We can order shorter or longer lengths in most colors.
How long does my hair have to be to wear the extensions?
Your hair has to be longer than the tip of your ears to wear Hair Extensions NYC's hair extensions.

How much do the consultations cost?
The consultations are free. There is absolutely no obligation to buy and no sales pressure whatsoever. We provide complimentary consultations so that interested clients can see the hair extensions and try on sample sets.
Do I have to make an appointment?
Yes, we require an appointment to ensure that one of our stylists is available to provide you with personal one-on-one service. We cannot accept walk-ins because we try our best to give each client personalized service in a relaxed, unhurried environment.
How long does a consultation take?
The consultations usually last about 45 minutes.
Can I try on sample hair extensions at the consultation?
Of course. The main purpose of the free consultation is to allow clients to try on sample sets and see how the extensions will look before you purchase them
How long will it take for the extensions to be ready for pick-up?
The extensions will be ready within a week. Many of our clients request faster service and we can almost always accommodate 48 hour and sometimes 24 hour orders. If you need extensions immediately, we strongly advise that you schedule a consultation as soon as possible, and inform the receptionist on the phone or by email that you will need your extensions to be ready for pick up within a certain amount of time.
Can I purchase the extensions on the spot?
We do not have ready-made sets because each set is custom-made. But can usually have them ready in a day or two if necessary.
Do you take personal checks?
We take all major credit cards, cash and personal checks. Personal checks must clear before we can start on an order.
Ordering Online
How do I order online?
To order online, choose a color from the color swatch page (you can find the link on the ORDER page), and then place your order on the ORDER page. You will need to choose a style: straight, wavy, curly or kinky-curly.
How long will they take to arrive?
The extensions will ship within 5-10 business days, which excludes Saturday and Sunday. We use FedEx Ground. We can usually ship orders in a few days if requested. Please contact us if you need an order sewn and shipped within a few days.
How do I make sure the colors I choose online will match my hair?
You can request free color swatches so you can see the actual hair extension colors in person.
How will I know how to put them in?
Our 45 minute instructional DVD shows exactly how to attach the hair extensions and create over a dozen styles.
I do not live in New York and cannot come in for a consultation. How can I make sure that the extensions I order are custom-made correctly to look perfectly natural on me?
We strive to ensure that our internet clients receive the same level of service as our clients who come to the salon. We provide each internet client with an opportunity to consult with our stylists by email or phone so that we can determine how to custom-make the extensions so that they perfectly match you hair's color, texture, style and thickness. Many of our internet clients choose to also send us a photo so we can see your hair and better determine how the extensions should be customized.
My hair is wavy but I often wear it straight, which style should I get?
The straight extensions can be made wavy using rollers, and the wavy extensions can be made straight. Either one would work.
Do you ship to international destinations?
We ship all over the world. We provide free shipping to all destinations. For express shipping please email us for shipping rates.
I have curly hair but I don't see many color options for curly hair.
We are always getting new colors in. If you do not see your color on the color swatch page, email us and we will let you know if any new colors have arrived in your texture and style.

I am getting married soon, can I get the hair extensions right away?
We can usually accommodate last minute orders. We manufacture the hair extensions here in Manhattan so we can provide fast turnaround time with necessary. Please contact us by email or phone as soon as possible so we can schedule the free consultation.

I want to wear an up-do for my wedding but my hair is too short. Can I use Hair Extensions NYC's extensions to create more volume for an up-do style?
Yes, you can use our extensions to create a beautiful up-do. At the free consultation, we will show you how to create an up-do using the extensions. We will also provide illustrated instructions for your wedding day stylist so that your stylist knows how to create the look you want.
I want to wear clip-on hair extensions for my wedding but I already have a stylist booked to do my hair the day of my wedding. How will my stylist know how to style my hair using the hair extensions?
Nearly all professional stylists are skilled in working with clip-on hair extensions. We will also show you at the consultation how to attach them in your hair so you will be skilled in attaching them before your wedding day and if necessary, can show your stylist how to put them in.
I want a real natural look for my wedding. Will the extensions look fake?

Hair Loss and Alopecia
I have alopecia, will Hair Extensions NYC's clip-on extensions cover my bald patches?
Hair Extensions NYC provides our clients with alopecia with an easy, non-surgical way of covering bald spots. We custom-make each hair extensions set to fit the head so that the spots are covered and the hair extensions do not show. We use very tiny clips so that they are comfortable and cannot be seen.
My hair is thinning, will these hair extensions compromise my remaining hair?
Your hair will not be damaged because Hair Extensions NYC uses very tiny light-weight clips that do not pull on your natural hair. As long as your hair is longer than the tip of your ears, Hair Extensions NYC's hair extensions should work for you. At the free consultation, you can try on samples to determine whether you have enough hair for the extensions to clip onto.
